Senior Disaster Preparedness Seminar a Success!
|

A very special thank you to our major sponsor E*Trade
Financial for their financial support of Senior...Are you
Ready? Their grant, along with the in-kind contributions of
Southern California Edison, SOS Products, Wal-Mart
and Pasadena Neighborhood Housing provided
seniors with a disaster preparedness backpack full of
supplies.
SET for LIFE would also like to thank Chief Ernest
Mitchell, who moderated and instructed key topics in the
workshop, Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire
Department, Erica Bushong of the American Red Cross
and Elisa Clifford from Southern California Edison.
Experts taught seniors how to; Assemble a disaster kit,
emergency planning, hazard specific preparedness, special
needs planning, electrical safety and practicing and
maintaining a plans. After the workshop, a senior remarked;
"I been thinking about doing something to get myself
prepared, but I did not know where to start. After hearing
today's speakers, I now understand what I can do to survive
after a disaster, until help arrives."
Disaster Seminar Attendee
"Now we can hammer our way out of a disaster."
